Personal Adventure Time fan art piece.
Jotun King was made over a 3 week period, taking an estimated 60 hours of development. Jotun King was made in Photoshop primarily using the Pen vector tool.
Jotun King was inspired by Season 6 episode 35 of Cartoon Network's Adventure Time, Graybles 1000+, where a glimpse of the futuristic Ice King is shown. I was very dissatisfied with the design, and decided to make my own.
Details and Inspirations, the long [and nerdy] version:
-All designs were made to look as similar to those featured in Adventure Time as possible, colors we taken directly from the source material.
-The Ice King (now the Jotun King) is featured about 100+ times his normal size, the idea being he grew into a mighty frost giant and began wandering Ooo with his horde of Snow Giants.
-Future Finn has a few added pieces of equipment, the more canon inspired pieces will be explained, the others we just things I threw in, such as the demon colored Katana, the kilt, the shoes, backpack, scars, and top knot.
-Finn's Grass Sword, which has taken over his whole left arm in this future rendering, and has sprouted a bonsai tree.
-Finn's Crown, which is not only has an adjustable size, but is colored after Billy's Gauntlet.
-Finn's gauntlet [right arm], The Finn Shield, which is also colored after Billy's Gauntlet and is meant to be a recycled Finn Sword. The idea is that after the Finn Swords breaking its remains and the separate conscious of Finn were remade into the Finn Shield which can project a forcefield in the shape of a younger Finn.
-Jake also has a new piece of equipment, the Shape-Shifters Maul, a gift from Jake's interdimensional parent; the Shape-shifter. The idea is that shape-shifters in their home dimension don't use tools, but rather develop specialized limbs to use when needed, and that one day the Shape-shifter came to Jake and gifted him the Shape-Shifters Maul [which is in fact a limb, not just a maul] for his birthday. The Maul can be shrunk and enlarged, as can it's conjoined limb, but it can't be removed or shape-shifted away, a fact that very much distresses Jake since the Maul tends to creep him out. All the colors and designs for the Maul are taken from the Shape-shifters design.
-The clouds, Snow Dragon, and Snow Giant are all inspired by the designs of the Ice Kingdom and Ice Monsters from Adventure Time.
